The Marthe van Rijswijck Foundation financed the furnishing of 3 classrooms at a prison school in Ethiopia. The prison board want to give prisoners the opportunity to finish their education or, for those who never had the change to go to school, start their education. Until this year, there were only 5 classes at the school. After completing these classes the prisoners were forced to continue studying using a poorly functioning long distance education project. The local government decided to raise the education level at the school and constructed three more classrooms in 2010. Unfortunately, there were no financial means to finance the furnishing of the classroom. This is now being funded by the Marthe van Rijswijck Foundation. The classrooms have been furnished and lessons have already started in the new classrooms.
