Homeless girls are being given shelter in the house started by Friar Gerard called “Centre de Refuge”, on Haiti. To give the girls a chance to earn an independent living, Friar Gerard set up a sewing workshop. Here the girls are be taught how to sew and make clothes.

In the long term this would not only be beneficial for the girls but also for poor school children in Haiti. It is obligatory for school children to wear a school uniform but most parents can’t afford this. The girls could make the school uniforms for a small price and not only make a small living for themselves but also decrease the visible difference between poor and rich in Haiti.
