With this project, Silent Work wants to give deaf children in Ndiop Sissé, Senegal and surrounding areas access to education by a approved teaching method called “Total Communication”. This project is called; “school on the mat” and is the second project for deaf children that is started by Silent Work. What started with a mat under a tree is now an accepted and implemented school method in a school with two classrooms. This increases the chance that the government will take over salary cost of the teachers in a few years. The demand for education for deaf children is really big in this area and till now there was no special education available. These projects will change this and with this the life’s of a lot of children.
