Many women were abused during the war in Congo. The harm that has been done to their bodies often does not heal by itself leaving the women suffering both mentally and physically. To make matters worse many families cast these women out and because of their physical state they can often not work which leaves them in extreme poverty. Luanda Jinja started a project together with a local vicarage and a doctor to help these women by starting repair operations in order to improve the physical health of these women. The operations already done show that these operations do not only improve the physical health of the women but also mentally. It gives them a change to go back to their families and regain strength.
