Training a puppy for a disabled child

The DutchNGO Hulphond (guidance dog) trains dogs to assist people with a motor or auditory dysfunction or epilepsy. The dogs will give these people the opportunity to become more independent and this improves their integration in the society. The NGO wants to train 30 extra puppies under which a few specially trained for children. The training of the dog takes 2 years. The first year thepuppy lives with host family and after that he will start a 6 month training at the centre. After finishing this training he will start a trainings program with his new owner. The Marthe van Rijswijck is funding the training of onepuppy under the condition that the dog that is sponsored by the Marthe van Rijswijck foundation will be given to a child.
