Wim van den Burg has been organizing structured development aid in Mpeketoni in North East Kenya since 1987. Wim is a teacher English at a secondary school. Because of his work he can only guide some of the projects personally. His right hand in Kenya is David Kinyanjui. The goal of the projects of this Dutch NGO called “de Spirit in ‘t Westland”( The spirit In the Westland) is to improve the living standards of the poor. This support must be of constant value. Together with authorities and missionaries they asses where help is needed the most.
Over the years the NGO build and/or donated; 17 primary schools, 5 daycares, 12 teacher rooms, 18 wells, 65 toilet buildings, 1 hospital, solar panels, medicine and a shelter for street and orphaned children in Nairobi. At this moment a church is being build.
