The Dutch NGO Initiat aims to start, with their partner SHIFS, a multipurpose centre in Monrovia, Liberia. Because of the political unrest that has lasted for more than a decade many youth in the age group of 15 to 35 have not been able to finish formal education. Many of them have been forced to work as child soldiers and there is high number of traumatized people. Often they have the responsibility for many family members.

Since 2005 the situation in the country has improved a lot because of the policy started by president Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf. At the multipurpose training centre vocational trainings will be given to youth in this age group and they will have the opportunity to choose between a range of trainings like for example, carpenter.
