Tsintsabis is a village in the North East of Namibia, where the people are mostly San Bushmen. Though the village has a school, many children were leaving early because what they learned was not applicable to their daily lives.

The Treesleeper camp is an initiative directly from the community, and was built in 2005 with the support of the Marthe van Rijswijck Foundation. A cultural centre and campsite for tourists, the Treesleper camp centralises the San culture. At the centre, young people get the opportunity to follow training workshops and to work. For example: they can make necklaces that they can offer for sale to the tourists visiting the camp. This helps link education to people’s lives and supports the people of Tsintsabis in their livelihoods.
