World Servants has supported an education improvement program that ran from 2016 until 2020 at 15 schools in northern Ghana.

The Marthe van Rijswijck Foundation contributed to the construction of a local school where 271 students were enrolled. The students were taught by 5 teachers. The school only had three classrooms in the beginning and since the start of the project three more classrooms have been added. Furthermore, a local carpenter made new school benches so the children are able to sit in the classrooms thus, improving concentration and achievements.

The total number of enrolled students increased from 271 to 302 and at the beginning of the academic year of 2019/2020 the number increased to 329. The largest increase was in primary school students which started with 214 and is currently 262.

The project proved that when facilities improve, teachers are more inclined to take on positions in the country. The total number of teachers increased from 5 to 8.

By building the classrooms and improving the facilities more children were able to attend school, stay in school and continue their studies at secondary school.
