A school for visually challenged children in Korara, Kenya was in desperate need of new braille books and learning materials. In order to provide a more permanent solution, the FORCE foundation set up a braille production centre. This way the students are able to produce their own learning materials.

The room where the production centre is now located needed to be renovated before it was fit for use. The walls needed painting and new carpet had to be laid. Furthermore, the windows were repaired, new power outlets needed to be added and the ceiling was repaired.
After the renovation the machines could be installed. The machines that were needed were, a computer, scanner, braille printer, and binding materials.

The teachers followed a training program to learn how to use the machines and supervise the children as well.

The production centre is not only a temporary solution, it ensures that the children will always have access to teaching materials in braille and thus is a permanent solution.
